Erin’s world is a webcomic focusing on online culture and how this effects people in everyday life. I wanted to explore why people choose to be online and why they may be more withdrawn in real life.
Erin ‘s world is based on Erin who is a teenager who struggles to connect with other people her age and struggles to make friends. This is not because she has social anxiety but based on the fact that she would rather be on her own and seems to enjoy her own company. Erin starts a blog which gives her a voice to express her feelings and thoughts online as she feels more able to connect to people online, rather than real life. Within the webcomic Erin’s blog is there for people actually read as I wanted people to be able to connect with my character.
As Erin struggles with real life relationships the online world in which she has created helps her connect with a community that understands her. However, Erin’s not so perfect online world can bare the brunt of online hate which she has gotten used to.
Erin’s blogs because she’s not the most confident and can struggle to let people know her opinion on things. Whilst writing a blog she can say what she wants and voice an opinion.
Erin enjoys her own company and likes being by herself, but it can be lonely,
Erin has friends just not best friends and spends most of her day on her own
However, Erin’s blog is online, and everyone can read it, it seems someone might just recognise her, and this might be the start of a friendship with someone she has things in common with.
